David continues to be a steadfast advocate for women and families. The very first law he authored in Sacramento strengthens tenant protections for domestic violence survivors by allowing a survivor who is a tenant to terminate her rental lease and get back her security deposit so her family can escape violence and move to safer housing (AB 418).
David wants more California women to receive the facts they need to make well-informed decisions regarding their health care. He led the fight to enact what is now a first-in-the-country state law requiring facilities that provide pregnancy-related care to distribute a notice of reproductive health rights and by mandating that unlicensed facilities disclose their status (AB 775).
In 2017, David passed a historic rape kit transparency law (AB 41) that delivers justice for sexual assault survivors by requiring law enforcement to track untested rape kits.
David has championing protecting children and parents of straight and LGBT families who use assisted reproduction. Due to his work, California now has a landmark assisted reproduction law that protects the rights of couples to grow their families in California by modernizing the assisted reproduction laws (AB 960).
